Still a Democracy

Here in Korea, I've become more aware of the happenings in America, as the only TV news I get in English is CNN and the papers are derived from big papers in the USA. So I'm acutely aware that there is an election on 7th November. And I'm also aware there are some reasons to hope for change in America - change for the better. Three reasons I'm know of today ::

1. Barack Obama
2. Nancy Pelosi
3. Kevin Tillman

Obama is a very sexy Congressional Senator who may/not run for President and be the first black person to do so. He wrote a book called 'The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream' and is a Democrat with lotsa good ideas.
Pelosi is the representative for San Francisco and currently the first woman to lead a major political party in either house of Congress. Talk is that she who could become the first female Speaker of the House. Her Democrat credentials are convincing.
Tillman is not a politician but rather a champion sportsman, however, he has just written a very political piece about the War on Terror and the upcoming election. He joined the US Army with his brother Pat in 2002, and they served together in Iraq and Afghanistan. Pat was killed in Afghanistan 2004 by 'friendly fire'; and Kevin was discharged in 2005.

If you are American, please vote! It's only 2 weeks away. Make sure you are registered and if you are away from home then please get your hands on an absentee ballot.

Yeah, I have nothing to contribute to this except that Obama is possibly the sexiest man in politics today.

He truly is. I had to resist posting his picture. But I couldn't resist saying 'very sexy'.

[is it enough though?]

are you implying that posting his picture would be objectifying him unnecessarily and thereby undermining his message?

Dave - a general election (for congress) is in 10 days, and the next presidential election is in 2008.
FYI1: Lots of Presidents are Senators before they run for President.
FYI2: Democrats need to get their nominations in early for President so the campaigning can begin. Obama may be giving Clinton a run for her money. That's part of the buzz.

ahh thanks for the learning.

actually now I seem to remember watching similar things on CNN and BBC when I stayed in France in 2002 and 2003.
